Tablets using Android Honeycomb are more and more powerful. They usually are powered by dual-core processor and high-performance graphics chipsets. Why don’t we use Android tablets for editing daily photos with following apps.
1. PicSay Pro
PicSay Pro is a well-known photo editing app. It supports many tools for editing color and adding stuffs, such as dialogs and beautiful stickers, into your images. Its simple yet useful interface makes it easy to use. It costs about 5$ on Android Market.
After staring this app, a small dialog display for you to choose an image for editing. You can choose an image from library or from other apps. Since its interface is optimized for Android Honeycomb tablets, it is rather easy to use. PicSay Pro supports following features:
- New Title: add a title to your images with many different fonts. You can input the title in a small textbox. You can move the title by dragging it with your finger. You can delete it by touching it and choosing Delete in the context menu.
+ Word Balloon: You can add balloons into your images. There are several kinds of balloons. To add effects to the balloons, you can double click on the balloons and choose Effects in the context menu.
+ Sticker: You can add stickers to your images. This app provides many kinds of stickers. You can also change the size of the stickers.
+ Effects: the most important feature of this app. You can choose from more than 20 effects. You can draw on the images, add another image to the current one, add color effects, … And, of course, you can change the contrast, brightness, color space, and remove red eyes.
After editing, you can export the resulting images to share on Facebook or send via email or send to other apps. One of drawbacks of this app is the image resolution is reduced when exporting. For example, an original image with 2048x1536 will be reduced to 1067x800.
2. Vignette
Although Vignette is known as a camera capturing app, you can use the photo editing feature in Vignette to edit photos. To choose an image in library to edit, you can touch on Menu, choose Import and choose an image.
Then, you choose Menu > Effects to edit the image. This app doesn’t support preview when choosing effects. However, it supports many good effects such as creating bolder, creating black/white effect, filters, etc.
You may need sometime to be familiar with this app because the interface is rather difficult to use. One of good features of this app is you can save effects or borders to favorite that will be applied to other images. The image resolution isn’t changed when exporting.
3. BeFunky Pro
The interface of BeFunky Pro is easier to use than that of Vignette. In the main interface, main features are placed on the top. BeFunky allows modifying images captured directly from camera or in library. This app is rather strange because it doesn’t support landscape interface mode.
Main features of BeFunky:
- Edit: edit the details of images. You can modify the brightness, change the contrast, or rotate or crop images, and sharpen images. The Smart Sharpen feature of this app is rather good.
- Effects: BeFunky provides about 50 effects that are classified into: Instant, Old Photo, Basics, Pop Art, Cartoonish, Toycam, Pinhole, Grunge, B&W, Cyanotype, and ViewFinder.
BeFunky Pro also provides many frames for you.

If you have a tablet running Android 3.0 but want to use the interface of Android 2.3, you can activate the hidden Gingerbread interface by increasing the dpi of the screen.
The main requirement is that your tablet has been rooted. You now can download and install the LCDDensity for root. After choosing the dpi > 170 and restarting you device, the Gingerbread interface will be displayed. We don’t know the reason why Google includes the Gingerbread interface in Android Honeycomb.
