Tips and tricks for Android 3.0 (Honeycomb)
The following tips may help you improve the performance of Android 3.0 which is designed for tablets
Speed-up web surfing
Flash is one of the best features of Android. However, websites with a lot of flash banners will reduce the speed of web browsers. You can eliminate flash banners by changing “Enable plug-ins” to “On demand” in Browser > Settings > Advanced. The flash banner will display as an arrow and you can enable it if you want.
Synchronize bookmarks with desktop computer
If you use Chrome web browser, Honeycomb can synchronize bookmarks with it without using another program like Xmarks. You can synchronize by Google tool in Preferences > Personal Stuff of Chrome on desktop computer and Settings > General in the browser of Honeycomb.
Encrypt data
One of the most important features of Honeycomb for companies is data encryption. If someone accesses your devices, they cannot see the data on the storage. To enable this feature, you can choose data encryption option in Setting > Location and Security.
Search shared files on networks
In Honeycomb, you can search files and folders shared on networks without using another program like File Expert download from Android market as before.
High-speed web browsers
You can download the Dolphin HD web browser from Android market. This browser supports multi-touch very well on any Android devices. You can also install add-ons on this web browser. Some more awesome features of Dolphin DH are screen capturing, Google translation, and bookmark synchronizing.
Application filter
It is rather difficult to find an application if you have many applications installed in your device. In Honeycomb, you can utilize the filter feature by touching the menu on the right side of your screen to choose one of options: All or Downloaded.
Transfer files to Mac or Linux computers
Honeycomb uses Microsoft MTP protocol to connect tablets with Mac and Linux computers. You can view your device as a hard disk by using File Transfer Utility for Mac and Android SDK for Linux computers.
Voice search
You can touch the micro icon on the search bar to launch the Google Voice Actions which helps you control your devices or search data by voice instead of using text.
Increase battery running time
You can inrease the running time by changing “WiFi Sleep Policy” to “When Screen Turns Off” in Setting > Wireless & Networks > Wireless Settings. With this setting your device will disconnect to wifi when it is in standby mode. Note that you cannot receive your email notifications with this setting.
Create folders on desktop
Google disable the ability of creating folders on desktop in Honeycomb. You can enable this feature by using the Smart Shortcuts program from Android market.
Use your phone as a modem
You can connect your Honeycomb device to Internet via 3G phone. First you turn on Bluetooth (in Setting > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth) to connect it with the 3G phone. Then you can touch on the spanner icon besides the phone name to connect to Internet.
Remove apps easily
In other Android versions, you need several steps to uninstall an application. In Honeycomb, you can easily remove an application by drag and drop it to the trash box.

Smart Shortcuts will not enable folders on the desktop. No program will. It will put links to apps in a facsimile of a folder - not an actual folder. You can't put links to specific files in it like you can with Gingerbread.
The only way I know to currently put a folder on the desktop is to use launcherpro which reverts to look to Gingerbread. There is a gold mine out there for an app maker to restore this function.
