Bring Metro interface to browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and IE

If you like the Metro interface of Windows 8 but you don’t want to install the pre-beta version of this Windows on your computer, you can bring this interface to your web browsers by using an .htm page as your homepage. This homepage having Metro style is designed by flatmo1. You only need to add bookmarks containing names, links, and thumbnails to this page.

How to install

- Step 1: Download the metro interface from http://flatmo1.deviantart.com/art/EIGHT-start-page-UPDATE-212847573. Unzip files to a folder.

- Step 2: Open file config.htm with a web browser and set-up the Metro interface

+ Number of screens

+ Default search engine.

+ Hover effect.

Then click on the arrow button to save.

Step 3: at this point, a temporary Metro interface displays. Hover your mouse and click on each bookmark to change its title, url, and thumbnail.

There are many thumbnails available in thumbs folder. If you want to add new thumbnails, put your images into this thumbs folder.

Step 4: After editing bookmarks, click on “Generate setting file” to create a text file. Copy the content of this text file from “var hoverEffect=true;” to “//end of 1.BLOCK” and paste this text into file “source.js” in the unzipped folder and save.

Step 5: Now, go to setting page of your web browser and choose index.htm as your homepage. For example, in Chrome, go to Options > On startup > Open the following pages and input the path to file index.htm. Restart browser to see the new interface!
